Meal Monkey / Totes of Hope
Every Friday in New Castle and Silt, The River Center extends a helping hand by providing free, nutritious sack lunches for kids. We have wonderful volunteers who help prepare these lunches every week. This initiative stemmed from the transition to a 4-day school week, which left many children without access to meals they relied on during the school week. Understanding the impact of hunger on these children, we saw an opportunity to step in and bridge the gap. In addition to the weekly lunches, each child is given a tote filled with non-perishable food items to support them through the weekend, ensuring that they have access to nourishing food even when school is not in session. The River Center's commitment to alleviating hunger for these children underscores our dedication to supporting and empowering our community's youth.
The Meal Monkey program operates year-round and our Totes of Hope program operates during the school year.
